The Sierra Vista Unified School District Curriculum Department invites Pre-K-8th Grade Students and Families to our annual Title I Read Across American Family Night! Join us as we celebrate reading and all of the adventures a book can take us on. Follow the White Rabbit for a night of games, activities, books and much much more. Maybe even a tea party with the Mad Hatter. Read Across America Title 1 Family Night is on Thursday, March 9th from 4:00-5:30pm at the Rothery Educational Center. We hope to see you there!!

The All-City Band Concert is on Wednesday, March 8th at 7pm in The Klein Center for the Performing Arts located in Buena High School. Join us for this band concert from all of our school!

On Friday, Sierra Vista Mayor Mr. McCaa joined Ms. Conde's first grade class at Camp Read-a-lot and read one of his favorite books. The scholars loved gathering around the fire in their tents and listening to Mayor McCaa. Thank you so much Mayor McCaa for helping our Bella Vista Bobcats celebrate reading

Join us for our Kindergarten Open House at all of our Elementary Schools! Tour the school, meet the teachers and get help with online registration! Our 6 elementary schools include Bella Vista, Carmichael, Huachuca Mountain, Pueblo del Sol, Town & Country and Village Meadows. All of these amazing schools offer all day Kindergarten with instruction in Art, Technology and PE, as well as, Math, Science and English Language Arts. We welcome all families and scholars who are ready to start Kindergarten next school year to attend one of our Open Houses on Wednesday, March 8th. Session 1 begins at 4pm and Session 2 begins at 5pm. Please note that Huachuca Mountain will not be offering a Session 2.

Come by Buena High School and learn about all of the great learning opportunities, clubs, programs and extracurricular activities Buena has to offer. Buena High School Theatre Arts presents "The Storm in the Barn" , written by Eric Coble from the graphic novel by Matt Phelan. The Storm in the Barn is a magical story that takes us to Kansas, 1937, in the midst of the Dust Bowl. Jack Clark is only 11 years old, but he must face the dust storms, the mysterious Dust Dementia and a strange and terrifying discovery he made in the barn next door. Jack finds himself questioning if he’s capable of being the hero. He is smaller than the other boys and not nearly as tough. He needs to protect his dying sister, overcome the sinister shadow lurking in the barn, and save his family. Maybe even save the world. On March 3rd, 2023 and March 4th, 2023, The Klein Center will open its doors at 6:30pm to present this American fable. The show will begin at 7pm. Tickets will be on sale for $5 per person. Join us for a dedication celebration for Mrs. Connie Johnson during our Governing Board meeting on Wednesday, February 22nd at the Rothery Educational Center Conference Room.

There will be no school on Friday, February 17th and Monday, February 20th in honor of Presidents Day. All school and district offices will also be closed. Please have a safe holiday weekend.

Due to our area forecast for ice and snow overnight all Sierra Vista Unified School District schools will have a delayed start time of two hours. Buena will begin at 9:20am, JCMS at 11am and elementary schools at 10am. Bus times will be pushed back 2 hours on all routes and stops. All release times will remain as a normal Wednesday school day. Breakfast will still be available but only cereal, lunch will be served as normal. Buena will not have zero hour. Thank you.

Meet Ms. Danielson, the School Counselor at Huachuca Mountain Elementary! "Hi, I am the school counselor at Huachuca Mountain Elementary. I love being a school counselor because, I love getting to know students and being there for them through the highs and lows of life. I enjoy the opportunity to work with students on the skills they will need to find success and happiness throughout their lives. I love that I am able to maintain a continuous relationship with students during their entire elementary experience; watching them learn and grow to be incredible people. I also like being a part of helping other educators meet the needs of their students. My favorite thing about being a school counselor is that my job is truly about being present for students. Our first counselor to celebrate during National School Counselors Week is Ms. Weber from Village Meadows. Let's meet Ms. Weber! "I am the school counselor and PBIS Tier II Team Leader at Village Meadows Elementary school. I love being a school counselor because of the relationships I get to build with my students! I get to be there for support during tough times and to cheer-on and celebrate our students’ successes every year they’re with us. Buena High has been cleared of any threat and classes have resumed as normal. SVPS will still be on campus as they finish their investigation.

Buena High has changed from a Lock Down to a Shelter in Place. Classes will resume as normal within the building, Sierra Vista Police Department will remain on scene continuing their investigation. During a Shelter in Place the campus does still remain closed to outside visitors. More information will be shared as it becomes available.
