Sierra Vista Unified School District is partnering with ASU Prep Global to offer a new flexible online learning option for students in grades 7-12.

For the upcoming school year, students will have two learning choices: students can continue their studies in a traditional, fully in-person learning environment, or they can take advantage of a new hybrid learning model where courses are taken fully online and they attend campus two days per week for in-person learning activities such as project-based learning and lab experiments with fellow students, and additional instructional support from teachers.

Students who choose the hybrid learning model remain SVUSD students and will have access to the full range of activities offered in the traditional in-person learning environment such as clubs, sports, prom and graduation ceremonies, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience. They will also have access to two Universal Learner Courses per year - college courses that are offered in high school, giving students the unique opportunity to earn college credit without having to incur financial or GPA risks.

“Our aim with this partnership is to provide innovative new learning options for students and families who are seeking more flexibility during the school year,” said Dr. Eric Holmes, Superintendent of Sierra Vista Unified School District. “The hybrid program is designed for mobile families, military families, or students and families with unique lifestyles that require a flexible education model while ensuring a robust learning experience that provides students the ability to learn at their own pace and be on-campus engaging with peers part of the week.”

ASU Prep Global, an extension of ASU Preparatory Academy, is designed to provide innovative and flexible online education options to community partners globally. Nationally accredited with professionally certified, full-time digital teachers, ASU Prep Global offers personalized instruction to students with one-on-one feedback, an engaging curriculum that combines the best of online and hands-on activities, and honors and district-aligned course options.

“Our role at ASU Prep is to complement, not replace, the vibrant learning environments in the communities we serve by providing access to a world-class online education with in-person support for students and families who desire a more flexible learning option,” said Megan Grothman, Director of Arizona Impact at ASU Preparatory Academy. “The hybrid model we are offering with SVUSD enables families and students to have a voice and choice in their education and exemplifies our commitment to expanding educational opportunities and tailoring them to meet the needs of diverse student populations. We appreciate SVUSD’s innovative and forward-thinking approach and their deep commitment to supporting current and future students.”
